I was young an naive when I bought my new car. I ignored good advice and let people take advantage of me. I was eighteen and working two jobs while trying to maintain a social life. Little did I know real friends did not need to borrow your car everyday and not pick you up from work on time.
It was a beautiful morning when I went to work at Crawford nursing home where I was employed as a Dietary Aide. As soon as I got to work my friend Kayla called. Kayla was a friend of a friend and I wanted to be polite. To be honest I wasn't that fond of her. She always had a problem, story, or some kind of drama and just didn't have the patience for that. Unfortunately I was to nice and she took advantage of me without me even realizing it until it was too late. Kayla asked if she could use my car because she had needed to do some errands and bring her baby to the doctors. I felt bad for the baby and said yes. I told her I would pick her up when I left work.
I asked Kayla to be ready because I had to get to my second job. When I got to Kayla's house she was not ready and I was upset. She finally came out after having me wait for a half an hour and I had to rush to work. Then my sister called to tell me that my niece had been in trouble at school for hitting another girl. I made it to work just in time for my shift and asked Kayla to please pick me up on time.
Later that night I was let go from work two hours early. I was excited to leave early but did not have my car so I called Kayla and asked her to come get me. Kayla said she would be right there but did not show up for two hours. I was furious. I got in the car and didn't say anything. I was silent the whole ride home and almost cried after I dropped Kayla off I had felt like . Two streets from my house my best friend Vanessa called. She was stuck out in Raynham and needed a ride home.
It was past one in the morning and I was tired but I agreed to go get her. On the way up I called my sister to see how my niece was. I got lost and hit a pole trying to take the exit. I pulled over and started to cry. I didn't know what to do and called my sister to come get me.
I learned the hard way that I can't please everyone. Sometimes you have to say no to people. Everything happens for a reason and I learned from my mistake. I would like to thank my best friends Vanessa for helping me see this.
I think this was a great start! I to have felt as you do. You need to check your wording and there seems to be some sentences out of place for example “Well I was to nice and she took advantage of me without me even realizing it until it was too late.” Not sure this adds to what your were trying to say. As a reader I would like to “read” your emotions, try to put me in your shoes as you did when you saw the big truck coming.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your rewrite!
